Hell is Real!

The above video is the testimony of a man who God has allowed to briefly experience Hell. Whether or not you believe his testimony, the Bible does indicate that Hell is a very real place, with real fires and torments.

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Mark 9:43-44
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Isaiah 32:22-24
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
I will heap mischiefs upon them (wicked); I will spend mine arrows upon them.
They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

The Bible consistently hints or directly talks of Hell as if it is a literal place. The word “hell” appears 54 times in the Bible that does not count the other terms associated with it like “grave,” “pit” and “Gehenna.” Jesus talked on hell several times and even talked of it in the form of a parable, the parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16:19-31:
lazarus and the rich man

Luke 16:19-31
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house:
For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

So from the parable we learn that Hell is a place of torment (“being in torments”), Hell is a place of thirst (“cool my tongue”), Hell has literal fire (“tormented in this flame”), Hell is separate from Heaven or Paradise and one can not cross to and from it (“there is a great gulf fixed”), in Hell one retains his or her memories of life (“I have five brethren”), and Heaven or Paradise is a place of comfort (“now he is comforted”). Many may easily debate as to whether this parable was describing a literal place or not, well I have a few questions to ask you: Why did Jesus see it necessary to indicate that the man was thirsty and in ongoing torment if this was just a fictional story? Why did Jesus see it fit to emphasize that the prophets or God’s Word has the answer to avoid such a place, if it was only figurative? Why would Jesus go on to even include the desperation of Lazarus (who by the way had all his faculties) to warn his other brothers from entering Hell? The most important of all questions may be why would Jesus use a parable or metaphor to describe another metaphor? As even some Christian denominations believe that when the person dies the soul enters a “dreamless sleep” state until the resurrection.

The simple answer to these questions is that Hell is a very literal place! I believe the whole idea is even more damning, pun intended, when one looks at Jesus’ words to the thief on the cross:

Luke 23:43
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.

I would like to ask you this question: Why would Jesus tell the thief that they will both be in Paradise soon? Now, Jesus is sinless and was certainly no liar (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5), Jesus did not lie to the thief, so he obviously was speaking the truth. The Book of Revelations even hints to us that there are human souls living right now with Jesus in Heaven, we know of the 24 elders in Revelation 4:4, “And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.” Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:8 also suggests this as well, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Even the apocryphal book of 2nd Esdras in 2 Esdras 14:9 also seems to support this exact statement made by Jesus in Luke 23:43, “For thou shalt be taken away from all, and from henceforth thou shalt remain with my Son, and with such as be like thee, until the times be ended.” The inference here in Luke 23:43 and the other scriptures is that Paradise is a literal place, since Paradise is a literal place then likewise “Abraham’s bosom,” which is the Paradise of the parable above is also a literal place, then shouldn’t it also follow that Hell is literal as well?
24 elders
Some may wonder whether or not it is biblical for God to allow people to experience these out of body experiences and visions of Heaven and Hell. It is biblical, in fact, Paul in 2 Corinthians Chapter 12 verses 3 and 4 describes of a man witnessing a literal Paradise. In the book of Psalms there is a group of interesting verses which indicate that David may have even experienced Hell or at least was prophesying the Messiah’s decent into Hell after His death:

Psalms 86:13-17
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast helped me, and comforted me.

Hell is a terrible place that God has prepared for Satan and his angels (Matthew 25:41), thankfully it is a place that we do not need to go to. All you need to do is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Repent of your sins, turn to God, and ask for God’s Holy Spirit to remove the power of sin over your life. Now is the time to make your choice while you have this one life to live. Will it be Heaven or Hell?:

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Please make the right choice! Choose Life; choose Jesus; choose God! Amen!

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

The Beautiful Side of Evil with Johanna Michaelsen

The Bible warns us to be cautious of any form of evil especially the evil which is masked by “good” intent. Satan can appear as an angel of light and his servants can do the same, so now more than ever we must be ever diligent. This is the beautiful side of evil, as Johanna puts it, evil can masquerade itself as good and benevolent even to the point of successfully deceiving others:

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Galatians 1:6-8
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have received, let him be accursed.

Yes, deceit that is ultimate stratagem of Satan and his minions. Satan is a roaring lion seeking to kill and destroy:
Roaring Lion

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

So, Satan wishes to kill and destroy as many people as possible and as the Last Days come to a close, it is only logical that he will bolster his efforts by using every manner of deception to destroy even more. This is what the Bible says, the End Times will be a time of rampant deceptions:

Matthew 24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

What is the answer to prepare us from these deceptions? Well, Our Lord has revealed the answer in the Book of Hosea:

Hosea 4:6
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Yes knowledge, but not just any knowledge but sound biblical knowledge. In the Garden of Eden it was Eve who was deceived by a lack of knowledge not Adam. This is my hope today for those who are reading this and may have already succumbed to Satan’s deception and may not even know it. First of all we must test all spirits, test all teachings, test all extra-biblical messages and even test me (in fact, test me out 100%):

1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

In order to “try” or “test” all that we are being taught we must line up these things with the Word of God just as Hosea 4:6 points to. His word must be our “yard stick” to determine truth from the lies:

2 Timothy 3:16-17
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

So, what does the Lord has to say about contemplative prayer, yoga, praying to icons, etc. Well let’s go to the Book of Deuteronomy and see what God thinks of those practices of the heathen:

Deuteronomy 12:30-32
Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

So, the Lord has no pleasure in any act that we may attempt to “Christianize” from the world’s religions. What about palm reading, fortune telling, reading the horoscopes and all other forms of divination? God’s word has this to say:
newspaper horoscope

Jeremiah 10:1-3
Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
For the customs of the people are vain…

The Bible encourages us all to meditate, but this “meditation” is the focusing on God’s word, the scriptures, meditation as defined by eastern meditation is the exact opposite. All forms of thinking are divorced, eastern meditation demands the complete emptying of one’s mind. This is not just non-biblical but it is rather anti-biblical; it goes against the Bible and such disciplines must never be practiced by those who genuinely desire to serve Christ:

Matthew 6:7
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much of speaking.

Psalms 119:97
O how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day.

Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Dear brother or sister if you are involved in any one or all of these practices, please repent and turn to God immediately. The Lord will not welcome anyone who are involved in these traditions into His Kingdom. No one who practices spiritual fornication with familiar spirits and spirit guides, idolaters, those in witchcraft and those involved in the anti-biblical practices mentioned above will get to live with God:

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

If you believe you can have your practices and God then you are sadly mistaken, because the Bible makes it clear that we can not serve two masters; we must make our choice there is no middle ground or gray area when it comes to serving our Heavenly Father.

double-minded

James 1:8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

1 Corinthians 10:21
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The Lord is eager and willing to save, if you are involved in the New Age or any aspect of eastern mysticism and the occult, please just repent and cry out to Him. Through genuine repentance, which is a complete rejection of all the wrong doings, will God hear you:

Jeremiah 29:12-13
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

All those practices are all man-made traditions and man’s futile attempts to please God or himself. The Bible makes it clear that we are not saved by any works or actions on our part; it is by God’s grace that we are saved lest any man should boast:

Ephesians 2:5, 8, 9
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Let us all keep our eyes fixed on Christ, our Lord. He desires us to be holy as He is holy, through the power of the Holy Spirit we are well equipped to follow Him. Let’s abandon all practices not pleasing to Him and pick up our crosses and follow Him. Amen.

Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
