Church of Tares: Purpose Driven, Seeker Sensitive, Church Growth & New World Order

This is an eye-opening film produced by Elliott Nesch of Holy Bible Prophecy Ministry. He exposes many of the false teachers that are in our churches, like Robert Schuller, Rick Warren, Bill Hybels and others, who use marketing and business practices to fill up church seats and develop mega-churches instead of focusing on preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. You will learn the startling fact that many of these mega-churches see their church members as nothing more but assets rather than actual people and how these pastors lead their church ministries like businesses.

The interesting thing about all of this is that the Bible points out to us that history repeats itself:

Ecclesiastes 1:9
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

As such, it should be no surprise to us that the marketing and business practices in many churches today was happening in Jesus’ day with the money changers of the temple:

Matthew 21:12, 13
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

meyercompound (1)
Now if Jesus was enraged when such practices were done in the temple back then, how can we possibly expect the Lord to be pleased with that now; how can we imagine God to be pleased with this!:

1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

It is sad that the Church is filled with these unbiblical prosperity teachings when Jesus invites us to simply seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). God is after the souls of mankind above all else, He will grant our material needs after we are saved, according to His will:

1 Timothy 2:3, 4
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Luke 12:29-31
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Philippians 4:6, 7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The Bible warns us that there will be a rise of greed and corruption within the world and His Church. Sound doctrines will be ignored and will be supplanted by a gospel of selfishness, hope and emphasis on oneself (2 Timothy 4:3). We must be watchful now more than ever and flee from such teachings and teachers! One needs to go no further than surfing through the host of Christian television programs to find several bible teachers preaching on hope, love, grace, health and wealth instead of focusing on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the saving of souls:

2 Timothy 3:1-5
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Proverbs 11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

True salvation comes from preaching the entire gospel, not bits and pieces of it, which some bible teachers tend to do. I used to listen to those preachers and was once a very complacent, lukewarm Christian, but do not be mistaken, many of these bible teachers have helpful things to say but it is all meaningless if one does not know God, does not understand His plan of salvation and His desire for us to live holy lives in obedience to Him. It was only when I dedicated myself to study the Word of God myself and to listen to preachers who taught the whole counsel of God: heaven, hell, the penalty and punishment for sin, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, copeland1the importance of holiness and God’s plan of salvation, that I had a genuine appreciation for the gospel and became truly born again. I can truly testify that the gospel truth can set us free!:

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

The History of the Emergent Church Movement

The film above originally called, “The Real Roots of the Emergent Church,” was produced by Elliott Nesch of Holy Bible Prophecy Ministry, it features the major leaders of the Emergent or Emerging movement like Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones, Rob Bell, Tony Campolo, Steve Chalke, Peter Rollins, Dan Kimball, Richard Rohr, Phyllis Tickle, Spencer Burke and others. This film also features many respected evangelists and Christian apologists who speak out against this postmodern movement.

The Emergent Church, as the film above shows, is filled with mysticism, it enthrones spiritual experiences above the Word of God, exchanges the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ for a gospel of works and traditions and discards many of the pivotal doctrines of Biblical Christianity. Jesus has this to say about mankind’s traditions:

Mark 7:9
And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Many of the practices done in the Emergent Church have roots in paganism like practicing yoga, using prayer beads, lighting candles, using icons and labyrinths. God desires us to be holy and to never practise anything that heathens do:

Jeremiah 10:1-3
Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:
Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
For the customs of the people are vain

Deuteronomy 12:31, 32
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

The Bible prophesies that in the last days there will be a great falling away or apostasy in Christendom, and many Bible scholars and teachers are convinced that the Emergent Church is a part of this great falling away:

2 Thessalonians 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

If anyone truly wants to serve the Living God, he or she must abandon all these philosophies and traditions of religion and turn to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; the path to God is not paved by having faith in one’s faith but by simply having faith in Jesus Christ:
prayer beads are pagan

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

God is a spirit, we must all worship Him in spirit and in truth, such traditions and practices are useless when trying to serve the Lord. Moreover, physical representations of God in the form of idols and icons are all meaningless to God as He is non-physical and nothing physical can ever hope to depict a non-physical spirit being:

John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

If you are Christian and truly desire to please the Lord, well then read the Bible because it contains His Words which are filled with life. You must also obey His commands if you truly love Him:

Hebrews 10:7
Then said I (Jesus), Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

John 5:39
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (Jesus).

John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

I would like to close this post with this surprising quote from an even more surprising source, Mahatma Gandhi:

“You Christians look after a document containing enough dynamite to blow all civilization to pieces, turn the world upside down, and bring peace to a battle-torn planet. But you treat it as though it was nothing more than a piece of literature.”

Yoga: Which Position Should Christians Hold?

Please watch the video above which is an interview featuring, an Ex-Hindu and former New-Ager, Caryl Matrisciana and the Bible’s view on yoga.

Many Christians are lured into the belief that we can adopt yoga practices from Hinduism and attempt to Christianize it, this is not pleasing to the Lord. Even if we simply practice yoga for its health benefits it is still very dangerous. The Bible has this to say concerning the adoption of such practices from other religions:

Deuteronomy 12:30-32
Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

shiva, the master of yoga

God never changes (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 13:8; James 1:17; 2 Timothy 2:13), so how can we possibly imagine that God is pleased when His followers adopt these pagan practices? As the video above informs us, yoga was designed by the Hindus as a means to connect with their gods, so any Christian who practices it is only connecting with the gods of Hinduism and opening himself or herself to demonic possession. The meditation aspect of yoga is actually not non-biblical but rather anti-biblical in nature; it is diametrically opposed to the Bible. In Hinduism, meditation discourages all forms of thinking and recommends the emptying of the mind, whereas meditation as defined by the Bible involves the very opposite, it invites deep thinking and focusing on the Word of God, the Bible.

Psalms 119:97
O how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day.

Psalms 19:14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

I encourage Christians to turn to the Bible and learn what it says on this matter. Please do not be dragged into the practices of other religions done onto other gods. Furthermore do not be persuaded by the philosophies of these other religions:

Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

This popularity of yoga and other practices of the other world’s religions are just a fulfillment of what has been prophesied to occur in the Last Days:

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Let’s take Paul’s advice and keep ourselves away from these practices:

2 Corinthians 6:17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Choose this day who you will serve! A man cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24); a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways (James 1:8). I highly recommend that you immediately cancel your yoga and meditation classes if you take them and please warn those around you that still practice them. Who are you going to serve – the god of this world, the traditions of men or God? We ought to obey God rather than men (Acts 5:29). If you are still not convinced of the dangers of yoga then please watch the following testimony of a former Hindu and her experience with yoga at the bottom of this post. You may also view an extended version of her testimony here. God Bless you.
