Messages from the Virgin Mary

The video above covers the major messages of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. While the Marian apparitions often declare comforting and encouraging messages to the world, we are encouraged by the Bible to test the spirits and see if what they say line up with the scripture:

1 John 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

In this post I will analyze seven major messages of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary:

1) Mary makes the claim of being a savior for mankind
2) Mary declares that she will bring peace to the world
3) Mary consistently draws attention to herself
4) Mary adds words to the Bible
5) Mary claims the title of Queen of Heaven
6) Mary claims to be the virgin of Revelation 12 clothed with the sun, moon and stars
7) Mary claims to crush the serpent’s head

1) Mary makes the claim of being a savior for mankind

Marian Apparition’s message to St. Dominic:

“One day, through the rosary and the scapular, I will save the world.”

The Bible makes it clear that only God Almighty is the Saviour, salvation is reserved to Him alone. The following verses are a few examples of this biblical truth:

Isaiah 43:11
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

Hosea 13:4
Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.

Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1 Peter 1:18-20
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

After reading the above verses it is clear that salvation is reserved to God alone, no one else. In fact, these verses all seem to help confirm that Jesus was not a mere human being like the Muslims may say or a mere created being as the Jehovah’s Witnesses believe, but must have been God in the flesh as John 1:1 claims. The Book of Revelation also makes mention of the exclusiveness of salvation through Jesus alone. It must be noted that the verse below, which is a future event, makes no mention that Mary will save souls, but only refers to Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God as being the one to do so:

Revelation 5:9
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Not convinced that Mary paints herself as another way to God? Consider the words of the Virgin Mary at Fatima which is in complete opposition to the verses that I have just quoted:

“…I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and their souls will be loved by God as flowers placed by myself to adorn His throne.”

2) Mary declares that she will bring peace to the world

The Marian Apparition’s 1st visit to Lucia Dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto at Fatima:

“Recite the rosary every day to obtain the peace for the world and the end of the war.”

The End Times according to the Bible is characterized by an influx of wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6), however, the Bible warns us that there will be a false or temporary period of peace:

1 Thessalonians 5:2, 3
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, PEACE and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Daniel 8:25
And through his policy also he (the Antichrist) shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by PEACE shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

There will be a false peace to come as Daniel 8:25 and many other verse in the Bible shows, a peace from the Antichrist, but we must ask ourselves the question: Is the Marian Apparition alluding to this peace? Mary’s peace seems to be a worldly peace while Jesus will be the One to usher in true and genuine peace:

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

3) Mary consistently draws attention to herself

Marian Apparition’s 6th visit to Lucia Dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto at Fatima:

“I am the Lady of the Rosary, I desire here a chapel in my honor to be built, that people continue to recite the Rosary every day.”

Marian Apparition 1st visit to St. Juan Diego:

“…I wish that a temple be erected here quickly, so I may therein exhibit and give all My love, compassion, help, and protection, because I am your merciful mother…”

mary's cathedral at lourdes
Time and time again the Marian Apparitions have asked for chapels and churches to be built in her name, not in the name of Jesus Christ, but in her name. I personally find this troubling because the Bible is riddled with stories in both the Old and New Testament where saints and angels rebuked those who tried to show them any adulation and worship:

Acts 10:24-26
And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

Revelation 22:8, 9
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

Some angels even withheld their names because they did not want to draw attention to themselves so it is quite odd that the Virgin Mary openly encourages attention to herself:

Judges 13:17, 18
And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?
And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

4) Mary adds words to the Bible

Marian Apparition’s 3rd visit to Lucia Dos Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto at Fatima:

“To save future souls God wishes to establish in the world the devotion to My Immaculate Heart. If people do what I tell you, many souls will be saved.”

The above statement is clearly contrary to the Word of God, which only describes Jesus as being the sole means of salvation for mankind:

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

This is clearly non-biblical that Mary would make such a claim as this but more importantly it is anti-biblical as she in a sense competes head to head against Jesus for His role as Saviour. The Bible makes it clear that we are to never add or remove words from the Bible:

Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Deuteronomy 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

The deeper implication that this claim made by Mary suggests, that God can “change His mind” or our all-knowing Heavenly Father can be “taken by surprise” by mankind’s wickedness. God is very serious when it comes to His words, He never changes and His words are forever! His promises are eternal, He even goes as far to say that He has lifted up His word above His own name this is how much God’s promises means to Himself. So, it is clear that Jesus has and always will remain the door for our salvation, not Mary:

Luke 21:33
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Psalms 138:2
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

5) Mary claims the title of Queen of Heaven

Marian Apparition to St. Bridget:

“I am the Queen of heaven and the Mother of Mercy; I am the joy of the just, and the door through which sinners are brought to God.”

This statement, apart from diametrically opposed to Jesus’ claim of being THE door or gate to God found in John 10:9, there is only one ruler in heaven! While the Bible does declare saints will be kings and priests as in Revelation 1:6, the Virgin Mary specifically says “the Queen” as if to separate and single herself out above all others. God is the only ruler, while there may be several heirs of salvation and glory; there is one monarch; one potentate above all. Jesus does not share co-rulership in heaven with Mary, the Bible is clear on this:

Isaiah 42:8
I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

1 Timothy 6:15, 16
Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

It is interesting to note that the title “Queen of Heaven” is in the Bible, the prophet Jeremiah speaks a lot on this being:
queen of heaven

Jeremiah 7:18, 20
The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

Sounds familiar? It should, the above verse is like a carbon copy of the activities of the Roman Catholic church today with the “cakes” and “drink offerings” being paralleled with the eucharist and wine. In the same verse the “other gods” is now supplanted by the myriads of saints which are canonized by Roman Catholicism, some of which have their own feast days. Roman Catholics would object to this comparison saying that this is not Mary this is the sky goddess, Astarte, well I have to remind you that God was not pleased as He said, “provoke me to anger,” so why would He be pleased with such worship now? The Bible declares that there is no new thing under the sun; history repeats itself, so if God was not pleased then why can we possibly believe that He will be pleased now:

Ecclesiastes 1:9
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

6) Mary claims to be the virgin of Revelation 12 clothed with the sun, moon and stars

Marian Apparition’s visit to Bruno Cornacchiola at Tre Fontane in Italy:

I am the Virgin of Revelation.”

Marian Apparition’s visit to Father Stefano Gobbi:

“In the Apocalypse [the Book of Revelation], I have been announced as the Woman Clothed with the Sun who will conduct the battle against the Red Dragon and all his followers.”

This claim concerns the account of the woman clothed with the sun, moon and stars in the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 12:1, 2
And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

Now on the surface the woman may understandably be misidentified as Mary, however, one needs to remember that the Book of Revelation is a book of prophecy; it was not designed to be a historical book like the gospels (Revelation 1:1). There is no mention in the gospels or the Bible for that matter where Mary gave birth to Jesus and flies away from a literal red, seven-headed, water breathing dragon as shown below:

Revelation 12:14, 15
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

So, it is obvious that these verses must be symbolic, but more importantly these verses primarily deliver a prophetic message not a historical one, in accordance to the prophetic theme of the Book of Revelation. Now, I will try to briefly decode the symbols, the Bible thankful provides all the clues to do this. First of all, I will examine the clothing that the woman wears, the sun, moon and stars are for signs as expressed in Genesis 1:14 and Luke 21:25, apart from this they are first used in the Bible as symbols in the dream of Joseph:

Genesis 37:9 ,10
And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

Thankfully, Jacob immediately revealed that the sun, moon and stars are himself, Rachel and his sons. From this verse, it is clear that as a whole, the sun, moon and stars imagery of Revelation 12:1 points to Israel. Similarly, the fact that the woman is clothed in such extravagant attire further confirms this point, as it points to Joseph’s coat of many colors:

Genesis 37:3
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

But then the real question that begs an answer is: who is the woman? Well the woman is Israel, please keep in mind that this is all symbolic if it was ever a literal woman this would contradict the prophetic and symbolic theme of the Book of Revelation. The Bible often described Israel as a daughter and virgin, like the following verse shows:
woman with a tabret

Jeremiah 31:4
Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets (timbrels), and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Amos 5:2, Jeremiah 18:13 and other scriptures describe Israel as a virgin woman, so it is clear that the scriptures above proves that the woman of Revelation 12 is in fact Israel. Now who is the male child? That answer is simple, it is understandable that people may naturally assume that he is Jesus, but this book is symbolic, it seems to be the Church. This is not far-fetched, the Bible numerous times describes the Church as  being the body of Christ in Romans 12:5 and 1 Corinthians 12:27. The man-child’s ascension into heaven is another picture of the future Rapture, the mysterious catching away of the Church described in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18. This is the more reasonable interpretation of this verse because we know from the Bible that Jesus was already a fully grown man when He ascended to Heaven (Acts 1:9) but the man-child ascended in the form of a child (Revelation 12:5). The dragon is already defined for us as Satan in Revelation 12:9 while the flood that emerges from the dragon’s mouth in Revelation 12:15 represents enemies rising up to attack Israel in Revelation 17:15. In the Old Testament flood waters are often used as a symbol for invaders:

Isaiah 59:19
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

My point is that this account in Revelation is strictly symbolic not a literal account of Mary, besides the apparition to Father Gobbi above is being deceptive as it says that the woman fights the dragon while the Bible teaches that she will flee from the dragon. In any case we must remember the context: that the Book of Revelation was revealed by Jesus and recorded by John, who are both Jews, so any Jew equipped with the Tanakh (the Old Testament) would decode the message in the very same way that I just did.

7) Mary claims to crush the serpent’s head

Marian Apparition to St. Juan Diego’s Uncle:

“Call me and call my image Santa Maria de Guadalupe.”

It is believed that the word “Guadalupe” was actually a Spanish mistranslation of the local Aztec dialect of the Nahuatl language, the actual word is believed to be “Coatlaxopeuh” which means “she who treads on snakes” which is interesting as the chief Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl, is a “feathered serpent.” Mary has openly accepted this title and even appeared to St. Catherine in the form of the image of the Miraculous Medal, which features a virgin crowned with 12 stars and crushing the head of the serpent with her feet. On the surface this may all seem good and innocent, but this is once again an example of the Virgin Mary usurping another role of Jesus Christ:

Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The verse above clearly says, it is the seed of the woman, who we understand to be Jesus Christ, that will bruise the head of the serpent; not His mother. Yet the Miraculous Medal designed by the Apparition shows her crushing Satan’s head which is shown in the picture which opens this post. Once again the Virgin Mary contradicts the Bible.

These are only a handful of several cases where the Marian Apparitions contradict the clear teachings of the Bible. If you are a Roman Catholic and reading this you need to carefully examine whether or not the Marian apparitions are in fact the true Mary of the Bible. In my points above, I proved that if you analyze the messages of the Marian apparitions, you would recognize a common trend: each time “Mary” appears she either wants a church to be built in her name, offers vague or false prophecies (some that the Roman Catholic hierarchy deliberately try to fulfill) or introduces new traditions or doctrines that are contrary or additions to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Paul warns us through his epistle to the Galatians:

Galatians 1:6-8
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have received, let him be accursed.

You must ask yourself the questions: Is it truly Mary of the Bible in these apparitions? Or is it “an angel from heaven?” I believe there is sufficient biblical evidence which points out that this may be an impostor. The Bible makes it clear that in the Last Days, Satan and his minions will appear as angels of light, and will deceive many through great signs and miracles:

2 Corinthians 11:13-15
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

I do pray that this article opens the eyes of many Roman Catholics, my hope is not to attack anyone, I only hope to open eyes and encourage others to lean on the Bible as the source of absolute truth not on ourselves or others (Proverbs 3:5, 6).
